Superman 2

Andre’s footing ability is just sick.

This BFC video’s footing is set to the haunting song Tusk by Fleetwood Mack.  In this video we finally hear them admit that doing this tricks that just blow your mind are EASIER on the super fly high.  Then they try them long line.  Many props for that.  Trying the overhead 360 long line is tough!

We also finally learn the name of the unique start they like to do.  They call it dolphining up.  They kind of do a dolphin kick to propel themselves out of the water and then pull their legs in front of them to pop up.  They do this trick long line too.  Then he does this back deep start with the rope held in front of him between his legs.  Anyways, enjoy the video and watch it all the way through for the out takes.

Superman

After a couple months of dodging rain drops and then waaaaay tooooo mucchhh driving, I’m back.  For me, the summer has been a bummer in regards to barefooting.  I’ve hit the water about 5 times to go footing so far… usually I’ll hit the water 5 times a week to go footing.  Enough of me whining and on to the video.

BFC has been busy making videos down in Texas.  The first video I’ll review this week starts off with Andre talking about his Checkmate Suit with Chuck.  Normally, this would be just total fluff, but Andre is actually doing something pretty cool with his suit.  As he tours the world, he’s getting the world’s best to sign his suit in the various boxes the suit is made up off.  The dolphin kick start still looks pretty cool, but the highlight would be at the end when he tries the overhead 360 and makes it on his 2nd try.  The back tumble up on the boom is pretty slick too.  Check it out.

A Nationals Review Teaser… EOD2.5

Yes, Mad-City is a ski team, but our highest scoring act wasn’t a skiing act… technically… it was our continuous comedy… all the little things that go between the water skiing acts. Here is undoubtedly the highlight of our comedy.

The Evolution of Dance 2.5.

You might want to hit the rest room first, some people have had a hard time controlling their bladder while watching this.

Human Short-Lines

Over at BFC, they’ve had a new video up for a while. The video features Andre de Villiers from South Africa once again playing on the jacked up boom.

A while back there was a huge debate on Super Fly Highs and their impact on barefooting over in the BFC forums. If you watch the video you see Andre doing some jumps while footing. The only people I’ve seen get more air hit a ramp so I think the argument about Super Fly Highs (SFH) not helping a barefooter is moot. They provide a fair amount of upward pull (aka lift) that a skilled barefooter can take advantage of.

I’m not saying the footers that do the crazy insane tricks on the SFH’s aren’t good footers. They are. They are usually very good footers, but the SFH is helping them with learn some of these insane tricks. If they start doing these tricks long line, they’ll have taken their skills to a whole new level.

We Need a Friday!!!

Ok world, I’m rolling out a new feature here on TalesFromTheFoot.com… here’s the first debate topic.

The world of wakeboarding has Dallas Friday as one of it’s leading ladies.  She’s a phenomenal wakeboarder, widely recognized as one of the best in the sport, who looks just as good as she boards.  Here’s a picture of her holding a wakeboard as she poses on the sun deck of a Malibu Boat (yeah, she’s got a boat sponsor.)

The question I’m posing for this debate is this:

Who is the Dallas Friday of the Barefooting World?

Is it one of the ladies from the Chicks Rule video that has been about to come out for what seems like years now?  (Good excuse to link to the trailer over at Toes Up.)

Best Dam Barefoot Race… The BFC Recap

Work and getting my ski team on the water has been keeping me busy, but I did see the recap posted by Barefoot Central written by Aaron Schoelzel. There are some good details on how the race went between the 3 boats at the front of the race. Be sure to check it out for details about just how close the race was. And yes, my team was one of the teams throwing up rollers for leaders to go through on their way back to the finish-start line.

They also have a couple videos in their recap… the first has interviews with the top 3 teams…

The second video has 8 minutes of them chatting in the car on the way to the race, but watch the end for the interview with Teri Bell, one of the race organizers (with her sister Sandy singing in the background) and some other late night antics at the bar. Be warned, look away at the end…

Finally, over at Barefoot Racing Endurance, there’s a little more insight from Viper who was on the 2nd place team. Here’s what he wrote about the race…

From my point of view – an incredible race: very fast, almost no mistakes. There were 7 lead changes – Jim Devens laid the early pace at 49-50 mph. Once Jim dropped out it was Tony and I within a boat length to the end of the lake, around the turn and back a 1/4 mile. Once Tony went down, I asked for all the speed the driver would give me for another mile.

Here’s where the only mistake there was in the race – when I signalled for the transition the handle slipped out of my hand. This led to a slow transition which allowed Ace in the Hole to pass us and get back in the lead.

A1 put down an impressive run. Just a couple miles in, Chuck caught a toe and went down putting MVS back in front. Ace’s next footer ran very hot closing some of the distance so we picked up the pace to 51+. When the 3rd Ace footer transitioned, MVS transitioned. The rest of the way we transitioned together with MVS running about 20 seconds ahead. Unfortunately, we had one transition remaining. So with a deep sigh, we made the final transition less then 1/4 from the finish putting in Mike Schnieder. Ace passed us during that transition and cruised in for the win.

Pavestone was right there only 1 minute back. Definitely their best showing and sending a message that they will be a force come this fall.

Disappointing for us, but a great battle.

Definitely want to see the video from Pavestone.

Barefooting on Smash Brain Raw

Never heard of Smash Brain Raw before, but apparently they make short video clips and put them up on YouTube. Sounds like a very viable business… or not.

Well they did a video for barefooting featuring Peter Fleck and Mike Seipel. They went out with a film crew and caught a whole bunch of tricks on video. For the host wondering what happens when you hit a log, I can answer that question. It hurts. You fall. And you’re lucky when you don’t break a foot or leg. I know from first hand experience. Here’s the video…

Do It

That’s Banana George’s moto and he’s still living it.

In a mass email sent to apparently every water skiing related website, Growing Bolder announced a video showing the 93-year old Banana George trying to barefoot again after a winter of health issues. But he’s still doing what he’s famous for and that’s barefooting. Much props to him and I hope to also be barefooting at the age of 93. With no further ado, here’s the link to the video on Growing Bolder.  Go check it out.

Here’s a video of a tribute done for George at Cypress Gardens.

Ice Mite Fight

I grew up playing hockey, so it holds a special place in my heart. The NHL playoffs are fun to watch, and so is college hockey (I follow the Badgers). Olympic hockey is also a lot of fun to watch.

One thing I’ve never been a fan of is fights in hockey. I just never really saw the point. Once you’re old enough to check, there are so many legal ways to hit someone really hard, why throw your fist into somebody’s helmet. It just doesn’t make sense. So the frequent fights in the normal NHL games are pretty much a turn off for me.

Last time I went to a Badger hockey game, they had some Ice Mites playing hockey between periods. One kid tripped another and I stood up and started heckling the “refs” about missing the call. Another guy stood up and starting yelling it was clean. It became quite the funny scene and then pretty much the whole section started laughing. See Ice Mites are about 5, 6 or 7 years old and most can just kinda ice skate. They don’t know all the intricacies about playing position yet, they just kinda follow the puck. Lots of fun to watch… at least for a few minutes.

This video came to my attention from one of the many sports blogs out there. It shows, what looks like Ice Mites, getting into a fight. Unlike most fights, this one is hilarious. It almost looks like they are on the same team and someone from the other team comes to break up the fight. I had to keep myself from laughing out loud at work when I saw this. Enjoy…
