First Person Footing

I now have access to a GoPro camera and strapped it onto my wrist yesterday while taking a couple short runs just to see how it’d work. The water wasn’t the best and the stretches of calm water were short due to there being several tubers in the area, but I did get a little footage.

First Person Footing
The videos’ in HD… feel free to bump up the quality and/or make it full screen…

And in keeping with the Pearl Jam backing music in the videos, here’s a video Ron Scarpa’s Watersports made a while back. Great footing and a great song.

Spring Wind Down – well, kinda

A Day at the RSWS

Here’s a nice video showing the fine people at Ron Scarpa’s Watersports in action as they teach some new footers how to foot and some old footers some new tricks. Mr. Paul Macdonald, among others, makes an appearance as well.

Fun times had by all at RSWS!

The hardest part I have about watching these video made by people at the barefoot schools is looking at the water. First, they are in Florida so there’s Gators in the water. Up here in Wisco, all we have are some real big fish, but nothing that’ll bite an arm or leg off. That bit about the Florida water scares me just a little bit. Probably not enough to keep me out if it, but it’ll definitely be in the back of my mind when I’m in it.

Second, 95% of the water is butter in these videos and the rest is still really, really calm. I see water like that maybe once a year and IF I’m lucky, I’ll be the only boat out there. 50% of the time, the water I foot in, most people won’t. 25% of the time the water would be nice except for the 5 or 6 other boats making waves as the pull their kids tubing. 15% of the time there is good water and only one or two other boats. The other 10% of the time, the water is rough enough where even I won’t try to foot.
