I’m a Calvin & Hobbes fan. Since they are no longer publishing new strips, I’ve found Red & Rover, which is similar, but not quite the same. For example, nothing can beat the many C&H strips featuring his snowmen. Here’s a link with several of them, many are my favorites.
Although today’s R&H strip was pretty good. I grew up playing hockey, so I especially liked it.

With all due respect to Charles Schultz and Peanuts, Calvin and Hobbes is the Greatest comic strip in the genre’s history. IMHO, Watterson’s body of work is on par with the best of American Literature. My hunch is that had Bill Watterson and Mark Twain been contemporaries, Twain would have been a staunch admirer of the strip.

I’ve never been a big fan of the Peanuts strips (love most of the TV specials though). I agree with the quality of Watterson’s work. The massive collection of C&H is one thing that I’ve wanted to pick up for a while. You may want to check out Red & Rover if you haven’t read it before.
