Summer is Here!!!

It appears that summer is finally here. Yes, finally here. The weather last week seems to have finally pushed spring out and summer in. Last week featured a variety of crazy weather. Storms pretty much daily. Mad-City managed to get in our practices between storms, downpours, etc, but dodging bolts of lightening just isn’t that fun. Wednesday’s practice was cut short because of some severe weather that moved through. Thursday’s was delayed due to storms moving through.

Friday, summer began. Beautiful weather, hot, clear, blue skies. Saturday, just like Friday. Our practice Saturday morning was very likely our warmest practice of the year so far. The air temp was already in the 70s. A very nice change from the 50s and 60s we had been practicing in. Sunday, was just hot and humid. We put out a good show, but nothing special since our practice up to this point had been limited.

Then on Memorial Day, I played uncle. I took my sister and her family out to the lake. We taught Anna, my seven year old niece, how to ski. She got up on the boom on her first try. The first two times she skied I dragged along side of her on the boom so she was a little more comfortable in the lake. The third time, she went by herself and did great. Next time she wants to go on the short line. Both of my nephews also skied, but they had both gone before.

All in all, a good Memorial Day weekend to kick off summer.

45 & Sunny

…sounds promising for Sunday. I guess that’s all we’re gonna get in Wisconsin in March. Here’s to hoping my dry suit has no leaks.

So Who Isn’t Paying Their Heat Bill?

I’m officially ready for summer to start. Spring is here, birds are back, blue sky’s seem to dominate the weather lately, snow is pretty much gone (for now), and (most importantly) the lake has finally thawed. But it just isn’t that warm yet. Now I’m not looking for 80 degree days (yet), but I’d be happy with some days in the upper 40s and maybe even some 50s.

Thursday night’s project will be to get my boat put back together. Charge the battery and install it, assemble the water pump, tighten the belts, and put all the engine drain plugs back in place. I’ll also check my dry suit, make sure all the seals are good.

And come Sunday, if the weather puts forth a little effort and attempts to cooperate, I’ll hopefully be taking my first sets of the year.

Now everyone needs to get their heat bill paid up so mother nature turns the heat back on. And think warm thoughts.

Crazy Wisconsin Weather Continues…

So a couple weeks ago we pretty much had a blizzard (at least by my standards) that even had some thunder and rain mixed in with it. Tonight, we have thunderstorm with a good mixture of hail. Just plain weird weather if you ask me. Although I’ll consider tonight’s weather a sign of spring, since we normally have thunderstorms in the spring.

And Spring = Start of Water Ski Season.

Snow

I’m anxiously awaiting the arrival of spring, because that also means that waterski season has arrived. This past weekend’s weather hasn’t helped my cause. We received nearly 12 inches of snow and had temps around zero for a good portion of the weekend. The snow and extreme cold aren’t helping spring get here any sooner. Hopefully, this is only a temporary setback.
