Mad-City Ski Team Recognized by the City of Madison

Earlier this month, the Dane County Board recognized Mad-City’s accomplishments this year. This week, the Mad-City Ski Team received some more positive local press. On September 19th, 2006, the Madison City Council recognized the accomplishments of the Mad-City Ski Team for our 2006 season.

Here are links to various documents from the city council meeting…

This is in addition to being recognized by USA Waterski and the US Olympic Committee in the month of September as well.

Evolution of Show Skiing Dance

At the Wisconsin State Show Ski Tournament, the highest scoring act for Mad-City, the highest scoring comedy act and the highest scoring act of the entire tournament was done by one man. Mr. Adam Schaller. He’s got a little dance routine that proves to be quite funny. Many people know the Evolution of Dance. Well, that’s what we did, but we put a show ski twist to it. Same premise, but we incorporated a lot of the songs that Mad-City has used over the years for our various dances. So presented here is the Evolution of Show Skiing Dance from our National’s show. It is almost the same as state, just a little bit shorter, and sadly, a couple less songs. Enjoy.

The Jaw Dropper (It is even Awesommer!!!)

At Nationals, Mad-City won the highest scoring jump act award (in addition to a National Championship in 2006). Typically, this goes to a large jump team doing a lot of multi-person jumps. Not this year. This year we had the Jaw Dropper. One man and his driver were responsible for it. We sent Mr. Paul O’Conner over the ramp three times. Boat barely left the show course. Crowd LOVED it!!! Here is the video from YouTube.

Awesome

For those that know show skiing, you know what I mean. For those that don’t, this is a slick act and worthy of the title to this post. I mentioned this in my Nationals Recap, now someone has posted video. Enjoy Wonder Lake’s Prefabricated Pyramid Hot Pick/Thread the Needle… Worthy of the highest scoring pyramid act at Nationals.

Dane County Board Recognizes the Mad-City Ski Team

On September 7th, the Dane County Board recognized the accomplishments of the Mad-City Ski Team. It’s not quiet the US Olympic Committee or a trip to the White House, but it is important to be recognized as a postive influence in the local community. I’ve included a picture of Dane County Resolution 109, 2006-2007 below. Click on the image to see a bigger version of it.
Here are links to the Dane County Board and the calender packet for the 9/7/06 meeting (the resolution is on page 7) where this picture was taken from.

Last Show of the Year…

Last night we had our last ski show of the year. Unfortunately, it was cut short because of rain. The weather didn’t look good to begin with, yet we had our largest crowd of the year. It truly is amazing what happens when you have a little positive local press. We had a huge crowd. Up until we had to call the show, we had a good show going.

Finally, Some Props from the Local Media

Yes, back when I wrote my Nationals recap, no local media had given us any props. No mentions that we won or that there was even a tournament. Now, three weeks later, both local newspapers had a story about the ski team this weekend. Here are the links…
The Capital Times
The Wisconsin State Journal

In other water skiing news, here is just a good story from Indiana, albeit a short one.
